Every student who wishes to be considered for membership in any WVU fraternity on campus must register with the Recruitment Committee.
Registration can be completed from this site, at freshmen orientation event or during any of general rush events. After you complete your registration, you will be mailed a schedule of events for general recruitment activities and specific information about each chapter. Registrants are expected to attend any general events listed below and are strongly encouraged to attend events of different chapters in order to learn more about each organization.
During this time of attending general rush events and chapter events, you may begin to "lean" toward one or a handful of chapters by finding common interests and meeting new friends. At this time, you will want to select which fraternity you believe you would fit best with and then plan to attend Formal Rush at these houses.
If, during Formal Rush, you show your interest in a chapter(s) and attend their Formal Rush session, and the chapter has interest in you, you will be offered a "bid". A bid is an invitation to join a fraternity. You will then receive a "bid card" from the chapter, which you may sign indicating you wish to join that particular fraternity and become an associate member. Offers remain open at least until the last day of Formal Rush. Formal Rush lasts three days, so do not feel pressured into an early decision.

Why do I have to Register?
Your registration ensures that each chapter receives your information and is aware of your interest in joining a fraternity at WVU.
The Recruitment Committee acts as a clearinghouse for registrant data - ensuring each chapter receives the information necessary to make a quality decision when offering bids to prospective students (see below). Each Chapter receives vital information such as your home town and state, your academic history, activities and organization affiliation, contact information and much more.
Following your registration, you will receive confirmation that your registration is complete and that you have been included in the fraternity recruitment pool.
Keep in mind that registration does not guarantee you a bid from any chapter.
Fraternity chapters can be selective and are not required to "bid" any particular student.

Important Tips to Remember |
|
 |
- Registering and attending events does not obligate you to join.
- Most fraternities recruit year round and invite men to join at any time, however, pursuing membership during the scheduled informal and formal rush period is your best opportunity to visit each organization and make an informed decision about joining a fraternity.
- Fraternities may invite you to events at any time, including over the summer. It is advisable not to make a hasty decision to join any chapter in order to give yourself time to meet members from other chapters.
- After registering you will receive detailed information about each chapter, informal and formal rush weeks, and other information outlining the general activities. There is no deadline to register, though the earlier you register, the earlier you have to plan and attend general events - plus this ensures that chapters receive your information.
- Keep in mind there is a non-refundable $15 registration fee. This fee is $16 for those who register on-line (the additional $1 covers service fees).

Questions to Ask May Include.. |
|
 |
- How much are dues or fees?
- What are housing arrangements?
- Is there a meal plan?
- What kind of scholarship program(s) does the chapter offer?
- What activities are the chapters involved with on campus?
- How will membership in a specific fraternity benefit me?
- What is the chapter's policy on hazing?
It is important to know a great deal about the chapter you are interested in before deciding to join. All chapters are different and by noting the differences and asking questions, you will be sure to find a fraternity that is right for you.

Extended Rush |
|
 |
WVU students who would like to join a chapter, but did not decide to pursue fraternity membership until after Formal Rush has concluded, may still have options. There may be an Extended Recruitment period for fraternities following the formal recruitment period. This allows students to visit the chapters that are still taking new members after Formal Rush. During Extended Recruitment, chapters will contact you directly.
