Since it's founding in 1923, the Rho chapter of Tau Kappa Epsilon has built a history on West Virginia University's campus that is truly diverse, stubbornly individualistic and which reflects true brotherhood. Refusing to follow the crowd, young men of confidence, or brothers known as "Tekes", set a precedent in social aspects of college life but excel in sports, philanthropies, and community involvement as well as achieve academically.
Rho chapter of Tau Kappa Epsilon stands out for its athletic and academic success. Brothers have majors including Industrial Engineering, Biology/Pre-med, Journalism/Pre-law, Chemistry, Advertising, Buisness and Education. Brothers also take the time to participate in other outside clubs, such as spalunking, wrestling, hockey, boxing, advertising, chemistry and more with our recent Vice President being elected Homecoming King. Rho chapter of TKE also won 2007 most improved fraternity award, and the 2007 Scholarship award, a testament to excellence.
Annually the TKE Educational Foundation provides over 25 Named Scholarship Awards for members of Tau Kappa Epsilon International Fraternity which are designed to encourage academic excellence, foster leadership skills and enhance the personal development of deserving students in pursuit of their college degrees. Incentives include reduced dues for members, free tickets to the end of the year formal and scholarships for most improved GPA, highest GPA and many others.

In 2005, the Rho Chapter raised $1000 for the Monongahela County Humane Society through the 5th Annual TKE Feud Competition between the sororities at WVU. The Monongahela County Humane Society, a non-profit organization which operates solely on donations and grants, rescues and shelters abandoned and abused animals in Monongahela County. The Tau Kappa Epsilon suggested charity is the Ronald Regan Alzheimer’s Foundation, so this year’s fundraising proceeds will be split between the two organizations.
In addition to money donated, Rho Chapter members are very active in donating time to the community. Several times during the semester, the entire chapter donates one day's worth of work to the Morgantown Chapter of Habitat for Humanity which builds houses and sells them at a discounted price and loan rate to underprivileged families. In the past year, we have helped with the construction of three houses in the South Park area of Morgantown.
Individually, brothers donate time at the local Boys and Girls Club. There, they help tutor and supervise grade school aged children and provide them with a safe place to learn and play after school.
