Pi Kappa Alpha International Fraternity is a Greek letter, secret, college, social fraternity. It is composed of men who share similar ideals of friendship, truth, honor, and loyalty. The Fraternity's ideals are expressed in the written words and symbols of a secret ritual. These ideals and members' ability to maintain the visions of the Fraternity's founders are the great moral legacy of Pi Kappa Alpha.
The essence of the Founders' vision for Pi Kappa Alpha can be found in its Preamble. A committee was first suggested by Brother William Alexander "to draw up a statement of the origin and the organization of the Fraternity." The committee was composed of brothers Robertson Howard and Littleton Waller Tazewell. The resulting statement is now referred to as the Preamble.
"For the establishment of friendship on a firmer and more lasting basis; for the promotion of brotherly love and kind feeling; for the mutual benefit and advancement of the interests of those with whom we sympathize and deem worthy of our regard; we have resolved to form a Fraternity, believing that, thus we can most successfully accomplish our object."
Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity is composed of 201 chapters and 7 colonies in North America with over 220,000 members and has maintained the largest average chapter and pledge class size for most of the past 20 years
Some prominent pikes of the past are:
- Tim McGraw - Country Music Artist

The Brothers of Pi Kappa Alpha have participated in every sorority philanthropy event that we have been invited to this past year, and have consecutively placed in the top 3
for the majority of philanthropic events.
Last semester we participated in Alpha Phi’s philanthropy by signing up 5 brothers to run in the 5k race. No brother placed lower than third in their respected divisions, we even had one brother win 2nd place overall. We also took second place in Alpha Xi Delta’s ultimate Frisbee tournament. We finished in first place for their "Kiss a Xi" campaign. We donated $137 to their efforts to raise money for Choose Children Philanthropy Service Program. Chi Omega has their annual paintball tournament for their philanthropy. We sent 7 brothers to the fields to battle in paintball. Although we did not win the overall tournament, we still had a strong showing and had a lot of fun. As for the Delta Gamma Anchor Bowl 2006, Pi Kappa Alpha proudly took home the trophy for first place. We overcame a deficit with 12 seconds left in regulation to tie the game and eventually win in overtime with a complete team effort. The trophy can be found displayed in the number one spot in our trophy case at the Pike House. Moving on to Kappa Kappa Gamma’s "Kappa Klassic," we fielded 4 teams of 4 men to participate. We had the most brothers participating than any other fraternity.
Every brother that participated had a great time, as well as the brothers who showed up just to watch. Sigma Kappa has their pool tournament in the Mountainlair each year, and each year we field at least 4 or 5 teams. Last year one of our teams took 3rd place. This semester we had 4 teams signed up within a few minutes and we hope to have more entering within the next couple of days. We at Pike know the importance of philanthropy events and how much they serve to the community. That is why we strive to our fullest potential to be there to support any sorority who is asking for our help in raising money for charity.
