The four cornerstones of Kappa Sigma are: Fellowship, Leadership, Scholarship, and Service.
By joining Kappa Sigma, one is provided with numerous possibilities and potential for fellowship, fun, and personal growth, that cannot be found elsewhere. The lifelong Brotherhood and unparalleled experiences have helped to make Kappa Sigma one of the biggest fraternities in the world, with over 11,000 undergraduate members on over 234 college campuses throughout the United States and Canada.
Brothers of Kappa Sigma are involved in the community, taking lead and completing projects. Many current senators, CEOs, governors, and other executives can trace their roots to Kappa Sigma, attributing to the fraternity the ability to enhance their leadership skills, abilities, and experiences needed to succeed.
Not only does Kappa Sigma promote leadership, another major aspect of the Kappa Sigma experience is excelling in the classroom. The Kappa Sigma Endowment Fund awards to Brothers in total of over $250,000 annually. This money is awarded to promote scholarship, awarding it to Brothers who demonstrate success in scholarship and leadership. At the individual chapter level, Brothers are encouraged to create study groups, seek help from professors or outside tutors, and learn from other Brothers’ experiences.
Countless amounts of hours are worked within the community. Activities range from park clean-ups to serving as Big Brothers, to creating charity events, and general activities to aide the surrounding community, in order to become more united and to have a positive impact on the environment.
Notable National Alumni include:
Jimmy Buffet, Jerry Jones, Sam Donaldson, Ted Turner, and Bob Dole.

James Caveney, elected president of the West Virginia Dental Association nearly a decade after he began practicing orthodontics, and was the first graduate of the WVU School of Dentistry to hold this position. He served in the American Dental Association’s (ADA) House of Delegates and, in 2003-04, was chairman of the ADA’s Dental Specialty Groups (including all nine ADA recognized specialties), was a past president of the Southern Association of Orthodontists, and, for his dedication and service, has received the SAO’s Distinguished Service Award and the SAO Citizenship Award.
